Brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld, along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser, is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso. DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that's as dangerous as it is enchanting.
Drama - This is a period con caper that mixes quirky comedy with serious
drama. While some of the all-star cast, such as Jennifer Lawrence,
have limited screen time, they all make their mark with memorable
characters. Sexual content, drug use, and constant language make
this film strictly for adults.
PROFANITY: Well over 30 F-words; over 30 S-words; 4 GD's; a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: Sexual situations with fleeting nudity. VIOLENCE: Shootings and beatings. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Alcohol, tobacco, cocaine, marijuana. ACTION: None. COMEDY: Darkly comic lines, situations, suggestive humor.
Roger EbertFull Review Excellent For all its brashness and big personality, "American Hustle" is a character study at its core—an exploration of dissatisfaction and drive, and the lengths to which we're willing to go for that elusive thing known as a better life.
