In 2028 Detroit, when Alex Murphy - a loving husband, father and good cop - is critically injured in the line of duty, the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer.
Action Sci-Fi - This is a remake of the classic 1987 sci-fi/action film, and while
the film is considerably less bloody than the original (and hence has
a PG-13 rating), there is still a lot of violence and some disturbing
images, so parents should exercise discretion. The most known
members of the cast, Michael Keaton, Gary Oldman, and Samuel L.
Jackson, have supporting roles.
PROFANITY: 1 F-word; 8 S-words; 1 GD; a few others. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Shootings and fights with minimal blood; graphic looks at organs. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol. ACTION: Chases, fights, shootouts, explosions. COMEDY: Darkly comic lines and political humor.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Good Robocop reboot does some of the things a good remake should do: it retains the central ideas and themes of the original while updating and rearranging the narrative to lose a derivative feel.
Roger EbertFull Review Poor the main thing wrong with "Robocop" is that it's dumb, and it's trashy...
USA TodayFull Review Average Not even a flashy new robo-suit can spruce up this poorly paced and lifeless remake.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 90 moviegoers:
CHILDREN: Five of the six children enjoyed "Robocop" very much.
TEENS: The females enjoyed "Robocop" very much. Nearly all of them indicated they loved it. The males rated it somewhat lower. About 35% loved it with another 35% rating it "above average." Unfortunately, the remaining 30% only rated it an "average" movie (enjoyable but nothing special or memorable).
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: About 40% of the males loved it with another 40% rating it "above average." Unfortunately, the remaining 20% only rated it "average" (enjoyable but nothing special or memorable). Two of the four ladies loved it and two indicated they enjoyed it very much rating it "above average."
ADULTS: These are fairly decent reviews from adults, but certainly not great. The male and female reviews are very similar. They show that approximately 30% loved it and another 20% to 30% rated it "above average." Unfortunately, a high percentage felt "Robocop" was only an "average" movie, which isn't bad but it is a bit disappointing.
