Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Drama - Like writer/director Asghar Farhadi's previous film A Separation, this is a talky drama for adults, but not in Farsi but in French. There is a recognizable star here in The Artist co-star Berenice Bejo. Some language and adult subject matter make the film inappropriate for kids, who would not be interested anyhow.

Critic's Review Heading

Roger Ebert Full Review
Excellent 'The Past,' another brilliantly mounted drama concerning fracturing families, hidden motives and the difficulties of attaining stability in a rapidly changing world.

USA Today Full Review
Very Good The Past is a mesmerizing examination of the ties that bind and those that have been painfully loosened.

NY Post Full Review
Very Good If 'The Past' doesn't equal the masterpiece that preceded it, it's still an exceptional film from a man who is clearly one of the best working directors.
