Walter Mitty is a daydreamer escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker are threatened, Walter takes action in the real world embarking on a global journey that turns into an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined.
Adventure Comedy - Ben Stiller's latest film as director and star is not as silly nor
outwardly comedic as most of his work, for this fantasy-themed
comedy-drama is more geared to an older audience than normal. Those
looking to see him or co-star Kristen Wiig in their sillier modes may
be disappointed. There is some mild language and intense scenes that
may be of caution to some parents of young kids, but overall this is
fairly safe viewing for most ages.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average This is a moderately enjoyable but largely forgettable confection.
Roger EbertFull Review Average "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,"... grated on my nerves something fierce. So again, there's a real question as to how reliable my assessment of "Mitty" as a weak-tea bunch of insincere pandering might be.
USA TodayFull Review Average Though the film is ambitious on most fronts, Stiller inexplicably made Walter a vague character. He's somewhere between an Everyman and a comic goofball, but not enough of either. For some reason this meek middle-aged man can do showy skateboard tricks worthy of Shaun White. Other than that, he's bland, genial, sporadically funny and long-suffering, but rarely engaging.
Washington PostFull Review Average The unevenness of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," and Stiller's recessive characterization of the title character, keep it from being an all-out crowd-pleaser. Still, there's a winsome, attaboy appeal to "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" that deserves to be honored. It's a perfectly likable movie, and sometimes that's good enough.

TEENS: Fantastic Reviews from both males and females. Only one male rated it just average.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: Great reviews from both the males and females.
