Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Average Ultimately, Pompeii isn't juicy enough (nor will it be successful enough) to inspire a rash of copycat movies.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average ...the action scenes are choice, and once the clouds of ash and shooting fire and churning seas start up, "Pompeii" achieves a momentum that most sensationalist studio fare can't touch.
USA TodayFull Review Average The massive volcanic destruction is the real star, as the humans are all one-dimensional.
Washington PostFull Review Below Average ... the movie is completely absorbing. You just have to sit through more than an hour of derivative plot and tired dialogue to get there.
NY PostFull Review Average Excellent special effects and solid exciting sequences carry the day as Mount Vesuvius and howlers erupt in 'Pompeii,'' a campy guilty pleasure that serves up a "Gladiator'' knockoff as an appetizer to the impressively flame-filled main course.

TEENS: Great reviews from both the males and females. Nearly all of them loved it or at the very least, enjoyed it very much.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: Four of the six males loved it and the other two indicated that they enjoyed it very much. Two females loved it and two enjoyed it very much.
ADULTS:These reviews are somewhat disappointing but not bad. About a third loved "Pompeii" while approximately another third, or so, indicated that they enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, 20% of males and 25% of females rated it just "average," which indicates an enjoyable movie but nothing special or memorable. Also, a few males and females actually disliked "Pompeii," which is definitely not good.
