In a near future, an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Lt. Col. Bill Cage is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop -- forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again... and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski. And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.
Sci-Fi Action - This is a science fiction action thriller with some touches of dark
humor. While most of the violence is bloodless, the action and
glimpses of deadly alien creatures will be too intense for very young
children. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt fans will enjoy, while some
other familiar actors such as Bill Paxton have very small roles.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Good Edge of Tomorrow is clever enough that the viewer doesn't have to feel embarrassed sitting in the audience but not so clever that there's no fun to be had.
Roger EbertFull Review Very Good The movie has an organic intelligence and a sense that it, too, exists outside of linear time. It seems to be creating itself as you watch it.
USA TodayFull Review Above Average Edge of Tomorrow's unrelenting spin cycle is leavened with humor, making for a million ways to die in Western Europe.
NY PostFull Review Good Cruise and Blunt give action-packed thriller an 'Edge'
