A giant radioactive monster is pit against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
Sci-Fi Action - This is a new American reboot of the classic Japanese monster movie
series. While there is a lot of destruction and more monsters in
addition to Godzilla, the main star himself doesn't fully appear
until midway. Most of the human actors have small roles, including
stars like Bryan Cranston and Juliette Binoche, with the main leads
being Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen. Some intense monster
fighting and destruction may be too violent and scary for young kids,
and there is some mild language.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Good To the extent that summer movies are all about mayhem and destruction, Godzilla delivers everything expected of it, and perhaps a little more.
Roger EbertFull Review Very Good While 'Godzilla' is less a satisfying drama than an immense, sometimes terrifying sound-and-light show, it's got a good heart. It's tough but never glib or cruel.
USA TodayFull Review Good Godzilla opens with a bang and concludes with an exhilarating roar.
NY PostFull Review Good 'Godzilla' climaxes in a welter of expertly staged monster-on-monster action that honors the memory of Ishiro Honda's 1954 classic Godzilla debut (and its numerous sequels) far more effectively than did Roland Emmerich's jokey 1998 reboot.
