Nationally acclaimed evangelist John Luther is the last obstacle in the way of sweeping religious reform in the States. When a U.S. Senator and Luther's own supporters abduct and frame him in the murder of an innocent teenage girl, an unprecedented era of persecution is unleashed. Out on personal recognizance, Luther escapes police surveillance in search of the truth. And suddenly a once-normal life is targeted by a team of ex-military operatives who wage a relentless campaign to eliminate the incriminating evidence. As evangelist turned fugitive, Luther vows to expose anyone involved with, or profiting from, the girl's murder. It's a mission that brings him face-to-face with the coming storm of persecution that will threaten the entire Christian community in America.
Action Drama Mystery - This thriller is in fact more of a Christian faith-based film than a
genre piece, and as such is targeted toward that audience. While
there is no language and violence is muted, there are are some
sequences that could be too intense for kids though given the subject
matter this has only adult appeal.
OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 42 moviegoers:
TEENS: Obviously this isn't a movie teens enjoyed very much. A review of "good/average" indicates a movie that's enjoyable but nothing special or memorable.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: The one male only felt it was an "average" movie (see above description under Teens)
ADULTS: These are good reviews, but not quite great. About 35% loved "Persecuted." Another 40% rated it "above average," which indicates a movie they enjoyed very much. Ten to fifteen-percent felt it was an "average" movie. Unfortunately, 10% rated it as a "fair" to "poor" movie.
