A crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.
Crime Thriller - This brutal and dark heist film is a true ensemble piece, with many
recognizable stars in generally equal parts, but the most focal roles
are those played by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Casey Affleck. That said,
fans of any of the cast members should enjoy. Violence, constant
language, and adult themes make this film strictly not for kids.

Roger EbertFull Review Below Average ...under-lit, increasingly ridiculous, generally ineffective dirty cop movie. Occasionally, the overwhelming talent of the cast will elevate the material, but not nearly enough to shake the feeling when it's done that you could use a shower.
NY PostFull Review Average There's a blue-chip cast running the gamut from A (Casey Affleck) to W (Kate Winslet) and terrific action sequences in "Triple 9'' — but in the end, this relentlessly nihilistic crime-caper thriller adds up to less than the sum of its impressive parts.
Rolling StoneFull Review Good Triple 9 is no Reservoir Dogs, but it is a twisty, terrific ride. ...a crime caper like no other.
Slant MagazineFull Review Average Like every film made since 1995 to feature a bank heist, John Hillcoat's Triple 9 arrives prepackaged with suggested comparisons to Michael Mann's Heat that it never earns because of its dreary literal-mindedness.
