Storyline Heading
On a December morning in 1970, the King of Rock 'n Roll showed up on the lawn of the White House to request a meeting with the most powerful man in the world, President Nixon.
.
Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Comedy - This fictionalized and speculative comedy about the real-life meeting between Elvis Presley and Richard Nixon is aimed at older adults. Michael Shannon fans should especially enjoy this comic change of pace while Kevin Spacey fans may be a little disappointed by his fairly limited screen time. The R rating is a fairly mild one, mostly due to some F-words, and most parents would find this generally safe for older pre-teens, but they likely would not be interested anyhow.

Critic's Review Heading

Roger Ebert Full Review
Average The movie is worth seeing, though, for Shannon's performance, in particular a monologue about the singer's twin brother, who arrived in the world stillborn 45 seconds before Elvis. It's hard to describe the power of this scene without seeming as if I'm overselling it, but when you see it you'll know why I mentioned it.

NY Post Full Review
Good "Elvis & Nixon” is the funniest Nixon movie since 1999's forgotten "Dick.” Spacey nails not only the Nixon voice and mannerisms...but also Tricky Dick's discomfort in his own skin and his rampant paranoia. Though Shannon looks little like Presley, he fits comfortably into the flamboyant costumes and the increasingly bizarre behavior Elvis exhibited in the years before his 1977 death.

Rolling Stone Full Review
Above Average Elvis & Nixon feels padded when it's not focusing on the two kings. ...only when the two giants collide does the film find its surreal comic footing. Elvis & Nixon is a mixed bag as a movie, but Shannon and Spacey are not to be missed.

Slant Magazine Full Review
Average Liza Johnson's film is generally taken with comfy gags that celebrate these men's ownership of pop culture. Elvis & Nixon finally cooks when Elvis and Nixon face off, partially because they aren't the only performers in the room trying to top one another. So are Shannon and Spacey.
