We always knew they were coming back. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force.
Action Adventure Sci-Fi - While its main star does not return, this sequel to the hit 1996
film is another effects-heavy science fiction action adventure. A
number of other cast members from the original return but some like
Vivica A. Fox only have very small roles. There is no graphic
bloodshed but some mild language and numerous scary scenes with
aliens may be too intense for young kids.
Jeff Goldblum MORNING GLORY, THE SWITCH, MAN OF THE YEAR Bill Pullman NOBEL SON, THE GRUDGE, IGBY GOES DOWN, TITAN A.E. Vivica A. Fox HOME RUN, ELLA ENCHANTED, KILL BILL - VOL. 1 Director: Roland Emmerich STONEWALL, ANONYMOUS, 2012, 10,000 B.C.
PROFANITY: 5 S-words; a few others. SEX/NUDITY: Fleeting non-sexual nudity. VIOLENCE: Fights, struggles, and killings with aliens with minimal blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol. ACTION: Combat, fights, chases, explosions, destruction. COMEDY: Some banter and wisecracks.
NY PostFull Review Poor The story is a patchwork of plot elements that don't fit together, and the film is so badly edited that it somehow feels twice as long as the original, even though it's actually half an hour shorter. The design elements look like they were recycled from a dozen other blockbusters.
Slant MagazineFull Review Terrible The insensitivity displayed toward human life in these sequences would be galling even by Emmerich's standards, if this pitiful albatross of corporate capitalism could work up enough energy to be offensive.
