Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment.
Action Adventure - This new take on the classic jungle-raised adventurer is not an
origin story nor an adaptation of any existing stories, but it is an
entirely new adventure. Fans of Alexander Skarsgard, Samuel L.
Jackson, and Margot Robbie should enjoy though Christoph Waltz and
especially Djimon Hounsou have very limited screen time as the
villains. Language is minimal, but there are some intense but not
overly bloody scenes of violence with people and various animals that
would be too intense for young kids.
PROFANITY: 1 S-word; a few others. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Fights with people and animals, shootings, with some blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol. ACTION: Fights, shootouts, destruction. COMEDY: Some wisecracks.
Roger EbertFull Review Average "The Legend of Tarzan” is a pretty good action-adventure movie. Its narrative is refreshingly free of bloat, folding the Tarzan origin story into a series of relatively pain-free flashbacks that actually dovetail credibly into its contemporary scenario
USA TodayFull Review Average ...while it looks great with its gorgeous computer-generated foliage and realistic animals, the story focuses too much on its stiff hero and a one-note villain rather than the big-picture ideas it raises in passing.
NY PostFull Review Poor ...you're just waiting for Skarsgard to shed the fancy suit and become Tarzan, already. Once he does, the film briefly hits its stride. Skarsgard gets to show off a playful, graceful physicality as he and Jackson's character careen through the jungle, running into various animal friends and adversaries...
Rolling StoneFull Review Above Average Whatever you think of the new screen version of Tarzan, and reaction will likely be polarizing, you have to admit that Alexander Skarsgard brings his A-game — mind, heart and body beautiful.
