Extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage comes out of self-imposed exile, thought to be long dead, and is set on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box.
Action Adventure Thriller - As with the other films in the series, this is an over-the-top
escapist action film aimed primarily at young males, and with the
return of original star Vin Diesel, the style and vibe is closer to
recent The Fast and the Furious sequels than the first two
xXx films. Fans of the other returning series stars, Samuel
L. Jackson and Ice Cube, may be disappointed by their limited screen
time. Language, violence, and some brief sexual content make the
film not for kids.
PROFANITY: 1 F-word; 22 S-words; 2 GD's; a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: Brief sex without nudity. VIOLENCE: Fights and shootings. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Alcohol and tobacco. ACTION: Chases, fights, shootouts, explosions. COMEDY: Banter and wisecracks.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Average It's a throw-away piece of cinematic fast food. It falls within the parameters of a creatively bankrupt genre that favors excess over story in an overt courting of the overseas audience. The movie is mind-numbing but not sleep-inducing. It's too loud and bombastic for that.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average The last forty minutes of the movie do come together in a pretty diverting way. There's a bit of "A-Team” zaniness thrown in as well, and this makes the intercut parallel action sequences of the climax...work pretty well.
Slant MagazineFull Review Good The action builds to such a head that even the serious stakes of the film's motivation give way to pleasant vibes.

Based on a theater exit polling of 36 moviegoers:
TEENS: One male loved it and one rated it "average." Two of the three ladies loved it and the third one enjoyed "XXX" very much.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: Three of the four males loved it, but the fourth one actually disliked it. Both the ladies loved it.
ADULTS: Good reviews from the adults. Half, or better, loved it, with another 20%, or so, indicating that they enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, about 25% felt it was just an "average" movie (enjoyable but nothing special or memorable).
