Two sisters vacationing in Mexico are trapped in a shark cage at the bottom of the ocean. With less than an hour of oxygen left and great white sharks circling nearby, they must fight to survive.
Horror Thriller - While this shark thriller has a PG-13 rating, it is still much too
intense for young children, for its brief moments of violence and
bloodshed are disturbing, and attacks and chases involving sharks are
too scary. Fans of Mandy Moore will enjoy the film, as will the
target of older teens and young adults. The other recognizable face,
Matthew Modine, only has a very small role. There is some moderate
Roger EbertFull Review Average ...an intriguing premise, a couple of reasonably nifty "BOO!” moments and a pair of likable leads and wastes them with tedious execution and an ending that is so silly that it almost defies belief. ...the ending of this film makes the ending of "The Shallows”...look like the ending of "Jaws” by comparison.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 55 moviegoers:
CHILDREN: The 3 kids loved "47 Meters Down."
TEENS: Three of the four males loved it and one rated it "average," (enjoyable but nothing special or memorable). Great reviews from the ladies. About 75% loved it with another 8% indicating that they enjoyed it very much.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: Two males loved it, two enjoyed it very much and one rated it "average." Four of the six females loved it with the remaining two rating it "average."
ADULTS: The adult reviews are good, but not quite great. Thirty-percent of the males loved "47 Meters Down," with another 30% enjoying it very much, rating it "above average." Unfortunately, the remaining 40% felt it was just an "average" movie, which isn't bad but it is a bit on the low side. As for the females, either they loved it or thought it was just an "average" movie. There weren't many reviews in-between. Forty-five percent loved it with only 10% rating it "above average." Nearly 50% rated it "average" (enjoyable but nothing special or memorable).
