Set against the backdrop of 1960s San Francisco, a modern take on the classic movies that Bruce Lee was known for. It takes its inspiration from the epic and still controversial showdown between an up-and-coming Bruce Lee and kung fu master Wong Jack Man - a battle that gave birth to a legend.
Action Drama - While being sold as a biopic of legendary martial artist and film and
television star Bruce Lee, this film mostly focuses on a completely
fictional Caucasian protagonist, with Lee and the other real life
Chinese martial arts figure he challenges playing a distinctly
supporting role. Fans of actor Billy Magnussen, who plays the actual
lead of the film, will enjoy, but fans of the real Bruce Lee and
hence action and martial arts fans may be disappointed. Some
language, alcohol, tobacco, themes/hints of prostitution, and brutal
but largely bloodless martial arts fights make the film too intense
for young children.

Roger EbertFull Review Very Poor How, this far into the 21st century, does a film like this get made? One that shunts Bruce Lee to the status of secondary character in a lazy and boringly familiar star-crossed romance? There are entire books and countless articles about the Wong Jack Man & Bruce Lee fight, and this film invents things wholesale to pad its running time? Why?
