The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
|Based on a theater exit polling of 24 moviegoers:
CHILDREN: They both loved it.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: The lone male rated it just "average." Of the three females, one loved it, one enjoyed it very much and one rated it "average."
ADULTS: The 3 males all rated it "average' (enjoyable but nothing special or memorable). A few of the ladies either loved "The Stray," or enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, 70% felt it was only an "average" movie. This was an entertaining movie that I enjoyed, but it seems more like a Hallmark TV movie than a motion picture worthy of the big screen. However, if you are looking for a good clean family film, "The Stray" would be a good choice, but I would recommend a cheaper matinee viewing.
"Pluto" comes out of nowhere and quickly makes himself at home with the Davis
family, who are on the brink of falling apart. Dad (Michael Cassidy) is a
career-driven workaholic who is neglecting his marriage and family. Mom (Sarah
Lancaster) is at her wit's end raising three young kids. The last thing they
need is another mouth to feed. Or is it? In just a short time with the Davis
family, Pluto the "wonderdog" manages to save a lost toddler, bring comfort and
companionship to a hurting 9-year-old boy (Connor Corum), help restore a
marriage, and repair a broken father-son relationship. Pluto is not only a guard
dog - he's a guardian angel.
