Five years, eight months, 12 days...and counting. That's how long Debbie Ocean-just released from prison-has been concocting the greatest heist of her storied career. She knows what it's going to take-a team of the best in their field, starting with her former partner-in-crime Lou. Together, they recruit a crew of specialists: jeweler; street con Constance; expert fence Tammy; hacker Nine Ball; and fashion designer Rose Weil.
Action Comedy Crime - This is a sequel/spin-off to the Ocean's heist caper comedy
series, with Sandra Bullock taking over the lead from George Clooney
as his character's sister. Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway have
the other more prominent roles in the ensemble, with Rihanna, Helena
Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, and Sarah Paulson taking on
more background roles. Some language, drug use, and mild sensuality
make this not appropriate for young kids, but parents of pre-teens
may find this safe.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Average Ocean's Eight is in the same spirit as the other Ocean's movies but, although the style is similar and the cast contains as much talent, the screenplay is where this one sinks below the others. As a concept, making an all-female version of an Ocean's film is appealing. The final product, however, is waterlogged.
NY PostFull Review Average Like a cubic zirconia knockoff of a priceless diamond necklace, this female "Ocean's” update looks the part but just ain't got that sparkle. A plan falls into place, though this one's got some implausible moving parts...
Rolling StoneFull Review Good Ocean's 8 is a heist caper that looks gorgeous, keeps the twists coming and bounces along on a comic rhythm that's impossible to resist. What more do you want in summer escapism? Yes, the plot has more holes than a wheel of swiss cheese ...

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 134 moviegoers:
TEENS: The two males loved it, as did all but a couple of the females.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: Just over 20% of the males loved it with another 55% enjoying it very much. Another 12% rated it "average," with the same percentage rating it "poor." Half the ladies loved it with another 25% rating it "above average," which indicates a movie they enjoyed very much. The remaining 25% felt it was only an "average" movie.
ADULTS: About a quarter of the males loved "Ocean's 8" with another 30% indicating that they enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, nearly 50% felt it was only an "average" movie (enjoyable but nothing special or memorable). The female reviews are very similar except they enjoyed it slightly more, but not by much.
