A heartfelt tale narrated by a witty and philosophical dog named Enzo. Through his bond with his owner, Denny Swift, an aspiring Formula One race car driver, Enzo has gained tremendous insight into the human condition and understands that the techniques needed on the racetrack can also be used to successfully navigate the journey of life.

Roger EbertFull Review Average Anyone who cherishes a dog will be drawn into this story, and even the most hard-hearted will be moved by the dog's devotion and the grief of the humans around him. But the narration that might feel poetic as we read can seem gratingly pretentious when spoken aloud while it is acted out.
Rex ReedFull Review Average Ultimately, The Art of Racing in the Rain has a dog's pure-heartedness that manages to beat strongly despite generic direction, milquetoast performances, and twelve cubic tons of Costner voiceover. It's a dog's world, this movie shows us, and we're lucky just to drive in it.
Slant MagazineFull Review Below Average ...at its best when Costner's earnest voiceover accompanies Enzo's more lighthearted observations about his distressing encounters with a misshapen plush zebra and what he sees as his human's very strange routines. But all too often, Enzo's thoughts suggest little more than trite greeting-card messages.
