Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Drama Horror Thriller - This is a dark, slow moving psychological horror thriller. Those looking for a more mainstream, jolt-scare horror film won't find it here. While two of the main characters are children, violence, language, and overall dark and disturbing subject matter make the film absolutely not for kids. Alicia Silverstone only has a very small role.

Critic's Review Heading

NY Post Full Review
Good "The Lodge," which climbs from low-level melancholy to all-out hysteria, tips its hat to several predecessors, "Hereditary," "The Shining" and "The Others" among them. Well, if you're going to derive, why not from the best?

Rolling Stone Full Review
Above Average The Lodge strains credulity beyond the breaking point; "contrived” is the mildest word you could use to describe the plot. Luckily, Franz and Fiala are masters of setting a mood that makes your skin crawl. And Keough—she's Elvis's eldest granddaughter—is a subtle sensation.

Rex Reed Full Review
Average What the film does do quite effectively from its opening moments to its troubling last shot is create a palpable feeling of encroaching dread. Franz and Fiala achieve this through an immersive sound design, droning music and the heavy blues, grays and browns evoked by the claustrophobic camerawork...
