Out of Sight, based on the Elmore Leonard novel, is a sly and sexy crime caper starring George Clooney as Jack Foley, an escaped bank robber who has no intention of going back into the pen and Jennifer Lopez as Karen Sisco, the Federal Marshal who is equally determined to recapture him.

Quintessential Elmore Leonard, Out of Sight is filled with off-beat characters, snappy dialogue, menacing situations, unpredictable plot twists and an unexpected romance.

Universal Pictures presents Out of Sight, directed by Steven Soderbergh (sex, lies, and videotape) and produced by Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher--partners in Jersey Films (Get Shorty, Pulp Fiction). Barry Sonnenfeld (Get Shorty, Men in Black) and John Hardy (sex, lies, and videotape, King of the Hill) are the executive producers. The film's distinguished production team includes: Elliott Davis, who photographed Soderbergh's Gray's Anatomy, The Underneath and King of the Hill; production designer Gary Frutkoff, who also worked on King of the Hill (as well as director Carl Franklin's Devil in a Blue Dress), costume designer Betsy Heimann (Jerry Maguire, Get Shorty) and Academy Award®-winning editor Anne V. Coates (Lawrence of Arabia, In the Line of Fire).

Scott Frank, who previously adapted Elmore Leonard's novel Get Shorty, has written the screenplay which revolves around a prison break that goes awry and the consequences for ex-con Jack Foley and by-the-books Federal Marshal Karen Sisco, who inadvertently gets caught up in his escape. Charged with bringing him to justice, intrigued by his insouciant behavior, she's not sure whether she wants to bag him or bed him.

Co-starring in the film are an amazing ensemble cast: Ving Rhames (Don King: Only in America, ConAir) as Buddy Bragg, Jack's good friend and conscience who can't believe his pal wants to sit down and have cocktails with a girl who works in law enforcement; Albert Brooks (Mother, Broadcast News) as Richard Ripley, the Wall Street billionaire who did time in Lompoc for insider trading and bragged to the wrong people about a $5 million stash of uncut diamonds in his home; Don Cheadle (Boogie Nights, Devil in a Blue Dress) as Maurice "Snoopy" Miller, another former Lompoc inmate who horns in on Jack's retirement heist and plans a homicidal double-cross; Dennis Farina (Get Shorty, Midnight Run) as Karen's father, Marshall, who only wants what's best for his daughter, which doesn't include bankrobber boyfriends or married ones; Steve Zahn (That Thing That You Do, Reality Bites) as Glenn Michaels, another ex-Lompoc inmate who agrees to drive the second getaway car but finds he can't escape his past; Luis Guzman (Boogie Nights, Carlito's Way) as Chino, who invites Jack to join him in the escape from Glades, but turns murderous when he discovers Jack was the snitch that resulted in his lover's death; Isaiah Washington (Get on the Bus, Love Jones) as Kenneth, Snoopy's wacked out brother-in-law and accomplice; Catherine Keener (Box of Moonlight, Living in Oblivion) as Jack's ex-wife Adele Delisi, an out-of-work magician's assistant who still has a soft spot in her heart for the debonair bank robber; Nancy Allen (Robocop, Blow Out) as Ripley's tough-talking housekeeper and former NFL offens
