The Journey Home
After five weeks in Africa, it was time for the filmmakers to return to America. But they will never forget what they witnessed on their sojourn into the orangutans' and elephants' worlds.

Morgan Freeman offers, "Born to be Wild 3D” brings us into the lives of creatures that deserve a better chance. We must think about them and their struggles to make it in the changing world. As humans, we have to be aware of the impact of our actions. We have to share this planet.”

Dame Daphne urges, "We're consuming everything on the planet and if we're not extremely careful, there will be no room for any other life forms here. And as soon as that happens, there will be no more us. We need to support conservation organizations to help save the animal population as well as their habitat. We need to put pressure on our leaders to care about these things.”

Dr. Galdikas emphasizes, "Preserving endangered animals and the earth is a tremendous responsibility, and although governments have begun to make some strong commitments, it is still individuals who must drive conservation everywhere.” That commitment is not lost on the filmmakers behind "Born to be Wild 3D.”

"I didn't understand elephants or orangutans before,” reflects Lickley. "Now there's a part of me that's been forever changed by their company and I'll never think of them the same way again. I have huge sympathy for their plight and I will do everything I can to make sure we still have them in the wild 100 years from now.”

Fellman concludes, "Both of these animals are very intelligent and charismatic. Their sense of family and their respect for the world around them is something humans could emulate for our betterment.

"For me, this story has been profoundly fulfilling to tell because both Biruté and Daphne have been huge inspirations to me personally. They are in some small way undoing the grave injustice that has been done to these animals for centuries. Bit by bit, life by life. They are living proof that each one of us can make a difference. And I certainly hope people leave the theatre with the conclusion that they can do something, too.”
