ROMEO MUST DIE
About The Soundtrack
Acclaimed Music Supervisor Barry Hankerson, head of Blackground Records, along with his son, Jomo
Hankerson, assembled a diverse assortment of talent to create the blistering music for "Romeo Must Die." Starting with
Aaliyah, an acclaimed performer in her own right and star of the film, Hankerson next enlisted Grammy Award-winning composer and celebrated bass player Stanley Clarke to collaborate on the music with dynamic producer and hip-hop artist
Timbaland, who also produced the soundtrack.
The resulting mix, with its deep grooves and heavyweight contributors, was a seamless fit with the high intensity action, as well as the mood, drama and spirituality, of "Romeo Must Die."
